VENICE VOTES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL
Venice Neighbors United
Dear Fellow Venetians,
This Sunday, Oct. 28th, we will be able to make choices for our community’s future in the Venice Neighborhood Council election.
Do we want an inclusive Venice, where people of all kinds work together to solve problems? A Venice that honors its roots and values its diversity? Or do we want to “improve” Venice with increasingly privatized spaces and a narrowing view of “us vs. them?” Does quality of life mean “I’ve got mine,” or does it mean being part of a vibrant community? Does “improving” Venice mean trying to make it more like Manhattan Beach or other upscale neighborhoods, or does Venice have special qualities that make it stand apart?
Here is a diverse group of candidates we believe share a vision for a green, thriving, diverse, and creative community, combining pragmatism and idealism, compassion and optimism.
We hope you will join us in supporting them. (We are only listing contested offices.)
President: Linda Lucks
LUPC Chair: Sue Kaplan
Communications: Jed Pauker
At-large Community Officer: There are a number of great candidates, but each voter is allowed to vote for only one. There are other good candidates as well, but some we don’t know, and others already have constituencies. In order to win as many seats as possible, we suggest you vote for the candidate closest to where you live or work.
Sylvia Aroth – East of Lincoln
