25th Anniversary Special Benefit Performance: Time Flies When You’re Alive, Sunday, October 14, 7pm

Time Flies When You’re Alive, the highly acclaimed solo show that played to sold out houses for over a year at the Tiffany Theatre, toured the country, and was subsequently filmed for an HBO Showcase Presentation, returns for eight performances only, to the Ruskin Group Theatre.

Written and performed by Paul Linke, Time Flies… tells the story of his courtship and marriage to his first wife, the birth of their three children and her losing battle with cancer in a tour de force. A professional actor for over 30 years, Linke starred in the feature films Motel Hell, Grand Theft Auto, Parenthood and is best known for his regular role on the NBC- TV hit series ChiPs. He most recently directed Ben Gazzara in the one man play Nobody Don’t LIke Yogi Off-Broadway at The Lambs. Time Flies When You’re Alive is one of the most successful solo shows in the history of L.A. theatre. You now have an opportunity to see why.

Santa Monica Art Studios Celebrate 8th Anniversary with Open Studios, Sunday, October 14, 1-5pm

Directors of Santa Monica Art Studios Yossi Govrin and Sherry Frumkin are pleased to announce the 8th Anniversary Celebration of their project of artist studios and exhibition space in an historic 22,000 square foot hangar at Santa Monica Airport. More than 35 painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors and mixed media artists will open their studios for the event.

Arena 1 Gallery will open an exhibition curated by Mark Carter, Even Gravity has its Ups and Downs, with works by eight artists that range from lighter than air to massively dense, from seriously grounded to ephemeral as they wrestle with forces that allow them to drip, tug, mash, float and expand.

Julia Morgan 2012 Panel Discussion: Women in Architecture Today
Sunday, October 14, 2-4pm

In conjunction with the Beach House exhibit Julia Morgan 2012: Contemporary Women Architects, Beach=Culture presents a panel discussion with local female architects about women in architecture today. Inspired by quotes from Morgan and led by moderator Amy Murphy, Associate Professor at USC’s School of Architecture, this discussion will range widely over issues facing both emerging and established architects in various areas of specialization. Featured are Cory Buckner of Cory Buckner Architects; Annie Chu of Chu+Gooding Architects; Julie Eizenberg of Koning Eizenberg Architecture; Davida Rochlin of Davida Rochlin Architecture and Lisa Little of Layer.
