SACRED AND PROFANE

The right to vote in America is sacred, the basis for everything else. It took several wars, nearly 200 years and an unknown number of lives to give everyone the vote.

But here and now there are people who have systematically set out to deprive other people of their voting rights.

Their targets are the most vulnerable citizens — the elderly, the very young, and people of color. They claim that voter fraud is rampant and it’s up to them to rid the voters’ rolls of the culprits.

In fact, voter fraud is negligible. The only frauds are these self-styled patriots who betray America and violate the Constitution every time they challenge another voter.

For all their flag-waving, they are not patriots, they are traitors and bullies and their effort to deny people the right to vote is profane.
