WILMONT GETS BACK TO BUSINESS
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Wilshire-Montana Neighborhood Coalition (Wilmont) will be held Monday, July 16th, from 7 to 9 pm at the Ken Edwards Center.
The newly elected board members thanked all their neighbors who have sent membership verifications and helped conclude the organization’s election held at its annual meeting on June 9th.
Jeanne Dodson, Robert Gurfield, Reinhard Kargl, Lenore Morrell, Jim Pickrell, Deborah Roetman, Elizabeth Van Denburgh and Alin Wall were elected to two-year terms and will now take their seats on the board, as stipulated in Wilmont’s bylaws. They “look forward to a new era of openness and participation by our residents and welcome their suggestions and support.”
The neighborhood organization has been in turmoil since Valerie Griffin, Wilmont President, announced at a Planning Commission
Meeting that the organization supported the proposed Miramar expansion, though many members not only did not support it, but actively opposed it.
Asked by the Dispatch for a comment after the votes were counted last weekend, Griffin declined.
The Ken Edwards Center is located at 1527 4th Street. Free parking is available beneath the building.
