Before we actually turn Santa Monica into Tokyo-by-the-Sea . . . have you ever been in Tokyo?

You will find, occasionally, squeezed in between the business buildings a tiny shrine, usually Shinto, almost a desperate attempt to retain some measure of nature in the face of the onslaught of business, business, business with its impersonal facades of concrete and stone and glass.

Even less often, you can find a very tiny plot of grass as part of that shrine.

For me, someone who lived in Tokyo for a year, it is unconscionable to plan on wiping out that small bastion of nature, the intimate neighborhood park next to our Village Trailer Park. It is almost as bad to ruin the grass plots between and around the trailers in that park.

I beg of you to call a halt before it is truly too late.

Thank you,

Charles Fox
