MAKING A HEALTHY COMMUNITY FOR THE YOUNG : Santa Monica Dispatch

MAKING A HEALTHY COMMUNITY FOR THE YOUNG

Saturday Morning, at 10 a.m., important issues will be discussed at Calvary Baptist Church in Santa Monica.

An African American girl, a student at Malibu High School, was recently slapped by a teacher.

Parents and community residents are concerned about conditions at Broadway Elementary School in Venice.

Santa Monica’s Pico Youth and Family Center City funding is at risk. The City Council will discuss its
administration next Tuesday.

Darrell Goode, NAACP branch president, Santa Monica/ Venice, noting that everyone’s help and input is
needed in making a healthy community for our young people, urged concerned residents to attend the meeting
to address the problems and take action to solve them.

“Our position,” he said, “is that all youth should be valued by the school districts and the city.”

The church is located at 1520 20th Street.
