TO PLANNING COMMISSION: QUESTIONS PROLIFERATE

Tweet Dear Commissioners, With regard to last night’s hearing, it’s demeaning to suggest that a developer with a base cost of +/-$4.5m and possibly (?) a yearly negative of $150,000 for a total of $5.5m in cost from 2006-2013, can’t turn a profit in developing 2 acres of property. But if in fact that’s the case, he should not be in this business and he certainly shouldn’t be building a project of this massive density!!! Please do the right & honorable thing. Ron... Read More

RESIDENTS, TAKE BACK YOUR TOWN!

Tweet The Planning Commission met last night, continuing its meeting of May 23. Last night, as last week, the subject was a very large no-name proposed mixed use development. Should the Commission recommend that the City Council approve a relocation plan for the residents of the Village Trailer Park, which is in the way of the development, the Environmental Impact Report and the commencement of negotiations for a Development Agreement? Last week, there were 40-some speakers,... Read More

TO THE PLANNING COMMISSIONERS

Tweet Dear Commissioners: Thank you for continuing this from the 23rd. Too, regrets it is so last-minute [those health care actions I noted last week have kept me from much time for any thoughtful attention to this since]… As I asked last week, I again implore you to either recommend quashing this DA consideration [the best course, all in all] or to further deferring any judgment on it. I [and I am sure others] would have liked having conversation to refute the many lies and... Read More

“Music From Argentina” at the Broad:Two Become One

Tweet By Gina Minervini The cello is generally an instrument that is part of an orchestra or ensemble, rarely taking the solo position. Latin Grammy award winner, cellist Antonio Lysy changed that concept when he took center stage in “Music from Argentina.” Opening in a subtle silhouette of light, Lysy sat in the dark with his back to the audience, his cello hidden in the shadows in front of him. As his first notes slowly filled the house, an intimate personal connection resonated... Read More
