Senate Committee Moves Autism Bill Forward
Wednesday morning, the Combating Autism Reauthorizaton Act (S. 1094) was voted unanimously out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension committee. Fourteen Senators were in attendance: Harkin, Enzi, Bennet, Bingaman, Blumenthal, Burr, Casey, Franken, Hagan, Isakson, Kirk, Merkley, Roberts and Whitehouse.
Autism Votes now turns its attention to the whole Senate. California Senator Barbara Boxer is a co-sponsor of this critical legislation that will maintain current federal funding levels for autism research, and support the important work of the Autism Treatment Network. California Senator Dianne Feinstein has not signed on yet.
Please call Feinstein (202 224 3841) now, ask what her position is on S. 1094, and ask that she cosponsor S. 1094.
At the same time, continue to spread the word on Facebook, asking California friends to contact Feinstein now, explaining that its passage will provide your community, and theirs, with critical funding for autism research and treatment.
The next 23 days are critical and the political climate is volatile, verging on chaotic.
