Considering Eden at the Annenberg
“Considering Eden,” an exhibit featuring the works of five mid-career California artists with particular focus on their explorations in relationship to landscape, still life, and storytelling, opens Thursday, March 31, at the Annenberg Beach House, with a reception for the artists, Lisa Bloomfield, Jane Brucker, Paula Goldman, Bob Jones and Katherine Huffaker Jones, from 6 to 8 p.m.
According to an exhibit leaflet, “Eden may be a cultural memory, a stand-in for ‘simpler times,’ representing an ideal where nature’s bounty was for the taking and life was uncomplicated and without conflict; this idealization is the unifying point of departure for these artists. The dissonance inherent in the act of representation fuels this work.”
The exhibit was curated by Bloomfield.
Beach House gallery hours: Spring: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Summer: (begins June 25) 7 days a week, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
