Save Our Schools Raises $1 Million
The Save Our Schools campaign has hit the $1,000,000 mark as it races toward the August 15th funding deadline.
As a result, students will have more access to libraries and a more complete elementary music program will be offered in the coming year. It also means lower class sizes for many children.
Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, dozens of local business partnerships and thousands of contributors, the Save Our Schools campaign has raised enough to restore 12 of the 60 positions lost to State funding cuts.
A new two-week drive to raise an additional $300,000 before the campaign’s end is now underway If SOS is able to meet this goal, class sizes will decrease for more students, libraries will stay open nearly full-time and the 4th and 5th grade music program could be fully restored In addition, 16 positions would be restored instead of the current 12.
The campaign will make a significant dent in the programs lost to devastating State funding cuts. However, this restoration will last for one year only and only provide a bridge to long-term sustainable solutions.
Significant fundraisers are still to come and two new events were just announced.
