Local Business Committed to Local Schools

As the “Save Our Schools” campaign heads toward $900,000, support for our schools continues to grow, with local businesses digging deep.

The giving begins at ZJ Boarding House at 2619 Main Street this Friday, July 30th, from 7 to 10 pm. As part of their regular Last Friday of the Month Celebration on Main Street, ZJ Boarding House will host a Save Our Schools fundraiser for the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation.

This free event is open to the public and will include free wine and food, live music, raffle drawings and a live auction of a surfboard signed by Rob Machado, a guitar signed by legendary Beach Boy Brian Wilson and a variety of other items including dinners to local four star restaurants and great surf/skate packages. ZJ Boarding House will donate 100% of the raffle and auction proceeds, as well as 15% of all retail sales that evening to SOS efforts to help restore Santa Monica-Malibu school programs lost to State budget cuts.

When Todd Roberts, Co-Owner of ZJ Boarding House, was told about the school funding crisis, he felt “compelled to take action.” He was upset at the prospect of the kids losing music, library services and their teachers.
