A special City Council meeting has been  scheduled for Tuesday. January 19.

Most of the items that were originally scheduled to be heard at this week’s meeting,  which was   cancelled due to lack of a quorum, will be heard at the January 19 meeting – with a notable exception,

The staff’s recommendation that the Council approve the Broad  Museum project and authorize the City Manager to negotiate and  execute  an agreement with the Broad Foundation that was on this week’s agenda is not on next week’s

—perhaps because Council  member Bobby Shriver told the Ootlook that he could not support the proposal in its current form.

Nor is the Council scheduled to declare that a vacancy exists on the Council next week. The declaration is the first step in the process.  Though the Council went through the process a year ago, following the death of Mayor Herb Katz, Mayor Pro Tem Pam O’Connor is  scheduled to ask staff  next week to deliver a report on the replacement process at the Council’s next regular meeting on January 26.
