The Santa Monica Chapter of the American Red Cross, the City of Santa Monica and  WISE & Healthy Aging will host a free seasonal flu shot clinic on Friday, Nov. 13, from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 4th Street in downtown Santa Monica.

This is the standard anuial fall flu shot, not the swine flu treatment.

The free flu shots are made possible through Los Angeles County Public Health.

Because a large number of people were unable to get their annual flu shots earlier in the season due to cutbacks by the County that reduced the usual number of flu clinic locations, this supplemental seasonal flu clinic was made possible through the combined efforts of the Santa Monica Red Cross, City of Santa Monica and Wise & Healthy Aging.

Flu shots are free and recommended for  pregnant women, people over 50, health care workers, the chronically ill (asthma, HIV, heart or lung disease, kidney disorder or diabetes), caregivers of children six months and younger,  or people who live with  s with high risk individuals.

People who are allergic allergic to eggs or have any other serious illness, should consult their doctor before getting the flu shots.

Limited free parking is available at the Ken Edwards Center. The building is also wheelchair accessible. The Ken Edwards Center can be reached on the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 & 9.
