Palisades Bluffs Project On Way
Prepare to improvise. Find new routes to here and wherever. Spend a lot of time in the “Inland Empire.” Do not turn Entrada into a thruway.
The contractor for the City of Santa Monica will soon begin geotechnical “improvements” to 1.6 miles of the Palisades Bluffs. The project goal is to preserve “an important recreational and visual resource.” The bluffs are an integral part of both the Santa Monica townscape and the coastline.
The work should reduce the risk of landslides and slow erosion down.
When: October 2009 – April 2010.
Work hours per City and construction contract are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
Where: Between the McClure Tunnel and the City of Santa Monica northerly boundary (just south of Chautauqua/Estrada)
What to Expect: Intermittent closure of the PCH #3 northbound lane (nearest to the bluffs); per Caldrons encroachment permit, hours of allowable lane closures are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday
Installation of arrow/message boards to re-direct traffic and inform commuters.
Access to all driveways, California Incline, and on-and-off ramps will be maintained.
