Be Warned!

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is warning motorists traveling over the Thanksgiving weekend on the northbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) approximately five miles north of Santa Clarita (and about 20 miles south of the “Grapevine”) to expect holiday-related delays due to an ongoing lane closure on northbound I-5 at Templin Highway.

The lane closure is necessitated by storm-related slope stabilization and extensive roadway repairs. Three northbound lanes and all (4) southbound lanes remain open to motorists.

Travel delays are anticipated from Monday, November 24, through Monday, December 1.

Motorists should be aware that that traffic fines are doubled in freeway work zones. In Santa Clarita and Castaic, The Old Road is a suggested alternate route during periods of congestion.

For road conditions in California (excluding unforeseen traffic incidents) please call the Caltrans Highway Information Number at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
