Gruber Misses the Point…Again
In his continuing quest to become a world master at missing the point, Surf Santa Monica pundit Frank Gruber has done it again.
This week, he alleges that the Santa Monica Democratic Club is just a club, after all, quotes an anonymous acquaintance’s displeasure with the Club’s 2004 endorsement of Dennis Kucinich for President, and then says, “The Club is a club, and only a club… It’s also virtually an appendage of Santa Monicans for Renters’ Rights (SMRR)…This year….the SMRR connection was particularly obvious…,” though, he adds, it won’t be obvious to the throngs of Santa Monica voters, whom, he seems to be saying, aren’t as savvy as he is.
He then concludes, inexplicably, “But then Bobby Shriver is probably the candidate running in Santa Monica with the best collection of photographs of him standing next to national Democratic figures.”
And so, in the world according to Gruber, the Democratic Club is just a club, a subsidiary of SMRR, its steering committee was out of order, Bobby Shriver longs to be famous. And black is white, down is up, in is out, cats are dogs, and SMRR is supreme!
