Good Question
In a recent public meeting on the matter of extending light rail to Santa Monica, planners aired an idea of laying the track on the median that runs down the center of Olympic. If that occurred the coral trees would be chopped down. Do the residents involved in Treesavers know of this? Have they voiced an opinion?
-Peter Tigler, Santa Monica

Yes, many of us involved with Treesavers are aware of this. Alas we are but a small group of full-time working folks, and our available energy is taken up at the moment with the other struggle. When we have a chance we’ll try and get involved in the coral tree issue as well; this is but one of several areas around the city where the urban forest is getting decimated with no or little suitable replacement.
